scruscru: south wind, clear sky (part 1)
Francisco Espregueira
Anton ‘Scruscru’ Bogomolov has built a hype of his own after a string of celebrated releases last year. Keeping on demonstrating an extraordinary prolific prowess in production duties, he is welcomed by the reputable Omena Records to drop a classy 3-track EP entitled South Wind, Clear Sky (Part 1). Short but remarkable, this EP showcases Scruscru at his best, blurring boundaries between a seriously good production output and a playful spirit, taking the listener on a truly unique-sounding ride.
Following projects that were curated by Ltd, /Wbl., Nómada Records or Sloth Boogie, his first release in 2021 contains a special blend of jazz, disco, big warm rhodes chords and sparkling synth sounds. Bogomolov’s mind seems to revolve around jazz-funk classics and his heart around disco feelings and unstoppable house grooves. As usual, his work is on point. South Wind, Clear Sky (Part 1) is available via Bandcamp - another quality record by Omena, all the way from Stockholm.
