sean mccabe & karmasound: a new day ep

Phuture Shock Musik means quality over quantity. Their catalog of releases dating back from 2010, is both eclectic and tasteful. This summer the Bristol-based imprint drops another dime, presenting the collaborative work of two very appreciated artists here on O Sótão. Soulful house don Sean McCabe joins forces with Barcelona’s shining bruk export Damian Botigué, a.k.a. Karmasound, to deliver a 3-track EP entitled A New Day, featuring guest spots from US soul sensation Erik Rico and upcoming Barcelona-based artist Mabreezee. The result is a groovy trip through fingerprint-textures of soul, house and funky rhythms.
Dropping this friday, A New Day combines the duo’s remarkable skills and shared influences to rustle up a sizzling melting pot of house, broken beat, soul, Brazilian and Afro-Latin flavours. As expected, this is a musically rich record, abound in slick, jazzy grooves, exuberant rhythms for dancefloors and headphones alike. We had the pleasure of premiering one of the tracks of this EP (below), but we would just share it anyway. There’s an evident soul in every single twist and turn of A New Day, and we feel it deep within. Available in a limited vinyl edition.
