Jakarta Records is one of the prominent independent record labels in Europe. Based in Berlin/Cologne, Germany, they’ve been responsible for the release of countless breakthrough acts since 2005. Rooted in Hip Hop, Neo Soul, R&B genres their output has been influencing a generation that breathes music outside the mainstream lights. Their latest compilation, Seasons In Jakarta, comprises an all-star team of artists: FloFilz, The Deli, Dr. Dundiff, Melodiesinfonie, Ivan Ave, JuJu Rogers, Ta-ku, Freddie Joachim and many more. All of them have been showcased here over the years.
This impressive list of featured artists has provided thirteen exclusive tracks for the release, which has been divided in three separate drops, during the month of June. Last week, Jakarta Records debuted the video for one of the most compelling tracks on the compilation, “Magic”. Suff Daddy on the production. Ill Camille on the rap. J.Lamotta on the sweet melodies.
Created by the french artist MC Blue Matter, the video adds to the song with a fantastic sequence of illustration, drawing inspiration from both classical art as well as iconic female personalities, representing the message Jakarta Records has been disseminating for more than a decade - for the independent artists out there, creating and hustling, from dungeons to rooftops. Magic stuff. Seasons In Jakarta is available on vinyl and cassette (at a fan price).
