september '18: recap #1
Francisco Espregueira
The playlist of September recaps the best tracks we’ve showcased at o sótão. The sweet instrumental hip hop vibes with prods by FloFilz, Psalm Trees, Like, Kreaem and Joe Corfield. The conscious words of Benaddict, Ivan Ave & the Summers Sons brothers. Theres’s jazz too, of course. Yussef Dayes and Alfa Mist are probably the most exciting collaborative project coming out this year; Kamaal Williams is the coolest maestro on that specific game. The selection is powerful.
And we unveil a little bit of what’s to come. Kool Customer are about to release a funky LP to entertain the fall season; Jazz Cat by The Deli is a magnificent piece of artistry we will cover. The prominent brazilian jazz pianist Amaro Freitas will release a new album through Far Out Recordings, after the success of Sangue Negro. The Afro Cuban All Stars Ensemble is back to the stores with the classic LP A Toda Cuba Le Gusta and “Osiris” from the supergroup Maisha comes from London. The expectations are enormous.
Included in the playlist and played live at the COLORS platform, we leave the lights on “What Am I To Do”. Mick Jenkins and Kaytranada. Was there a chance that this would not be good?
