shaka: the riverwalk ep
Francisco Espregueira
The Swiss house veteran Kurt Spichiger (a.k.a. Shaka) has been in the game since the early 90’s as a reliable source of skillfully constructed house music. His latest EP, The Riverwalk, arrives via Swedish imprint Local Talk, accustomed to deliver an eclectic and complex brand of sound. Comprised by two original mixes and two dub versions, this EP is a soulful affair, full of deep house authenticity and jazzy melodies.
Shaka started recording his first mix tapes in the late 80s as a hip hop and funk DJ. Eventually more and more acid, Chicago house and the sounds of Detroit made their way into his mixes. Since then he has been constant in the Swiss house scene, releasing countless productions in a variety of reputable labels. The Riverwalk EP is his recent piece of gold, heavily influenced by soulful and spiritual house vibes. Available in vinyl, courtesy of Local Talk.
