Last friday, belgian producer ShunGu presented his new project: A Black Market Album. Once again, he seems ahead of his time, creating from the dungeons of his creativity. Underground, dreamy, weird, fantastic. Perfectly chosen drums sounds and a subtle swagger, reminiscent of golden-age J Dilla productions, but modern. ShunGu keeps up with the best contemporary works of the genre and A Black Market Album is one of them.

This mainly instrumental album has the vocal collaboration of Pink Siifu, Spote Breeze and Mamoyo, fitting the whole mood - one that we’re drawn into from the first track. The standout elements seem inextricable: drums, lyrics, synths and melodies all stand apart, yet each is impossible to envision functioning without the others.
