sons of the james: i want more (telemakus remixes)
Francisco Espregueira
If you haven’t heard about Telelmakus, we strongly advise you to dive into his work, extensively available in his Soundcloud page, and acclaimed projects like The New Heritage. At the fore front of the new American jazz scene, one that blends a number of their very own influences - pervading rock, hip hop and electronic music, the prodigious musician, composer, producer takes on the work of reiventing and revamping one track from Sons Of The James’ Everlasting record from 2020 - a duo project by singer Rob Milton & musician/producer DJ Harrison.
Here, the boisterously bass-heavy album cut "I Want More" gets a melodic revamp from Telemakus in two modes: one sped-up "Fast-Jazz" mix as Telemakus had originally flipped it, and a bonus "Slowed-Soul" edit done that returns Rob's vocals to their original speed. We usually don’t focus on releases that revolve round the same track (i.e. singles or remix EP’s). But the beauty that the music above creates a deserved exception, with the two main remixed versions sounding so rich that is impossible to not feel entertaiend by “I Want More” for different reasons. Available on Bandcamp, Sons Of The James’ I Want More (Telemakus Remixes) is another beautiful piece coming out on the Fresh Selects imprint.
