tenderlonious: underworld
Tenderlonious keeps delivering some of the best deep house in the scene, presenting three super deep cuts that nod to mid-90s Larry Heard and smudged, jazzy beatdown vibes in a Theo Parrish/Rick Wilhite/KDJ style. Underworld dropped last friday and is one of those records that goes directly into the special crates.
Its starts with, in our opinion, one of the tracks of the year - "Underworld" is a ten-minute deep house journey that features classic synth leads, sweeping strings, and rolling 808 drums. It’s followed by "Wild Horses", a more upbeat track with clapping 808s, a smooth bassline, and lush analogue pads. The EP concludes with "Ur Love," a nod to the noughties London club scene, featuring a rolling drumbeat, an arpeggiated piano line, and a slick lead solo. Yes, yes. Available on vinyl, via 22a.
