teymori: teymori ii
Francisco Espregueira
TEYMORI is the alias behind Amin Payne’s explorations into organic-influenced house music. The Melbourne-based producer self-titled first EP, released in 2018, was one of the best debuts of that year, merging the sounds of funk, afro, soul & percussive rhythms and taking us on an organic journey with sophisticated grooves. Last friday Payne released the second installment of this project entitled TEYMORI II.
On this record he is once again joined by a cast of outstanding talent. We’re talking about some of Australia’s most influential musicians of our time: Horatio Luna, SIlentJay, Close Counters, Potatohead People, Allysha Joy, and company. Over seven tracks TEYMORI takes us into an energetic burst of soulful dance moments. Thumping beats, complex percussion sections and the bubbly bass lines, mostly performed by Horatio Luna, are complemented by ecstatic horns (by Felix Meredith) and keys. TEYMORI II is an uplifting piece of work hailing summer vibes from Australia. Available via Bandcamp with a vinyl edition coming early next year.
