twovi: panama
Francisco Espregueira
One of the leaders on the wave of musical talent coming from Italy, Vito Loperfido (a.k.a. Twovi) is not afraid of using inspiration from different sources. Panama, released via the Stockholm-based Omena Records, blends jazzy house vibes with intricate afro-latin-infused drum patterns into a very natural soundscape. Following releases on Bosconi Records and on Chez Damier’s Inner Balance, Twovi has the honor of producing the 30th record with Omena’s stamp.
Opening with the title-track, Twovi pays homage to KDJ jazzy takes, while “Santiago” is a clever number where the drums are especially tasty with latin vibes sprinkled on top. Contours collaborates with a remix of “Panama” delivering a deep and rich version with his signature percussions included. “Lima” brings memories back to the golden days of Nuphonic and, last but not least, the digital bonus track “Avana” is a funky and soulful closing the EP in style. Panama is available in vinyl, showcasing Twovi’s talent for blending classic house with a fresh approach.
