Sengiley Recordings is one of the most exciting labels in the deep house rotations at the moment. Hailing from Russia they have delivered successive quality EP’s, introducing works from up and coming producers like 2XM, HATT.D, Florian, Maison Blanche or César Martínez. Now they release their first record in vinyl, SNGWAX 01, compiling tracks made by Joint4Nine, Soul Bridges, Last Nubian and Donnie Moustaki (later remixed by SofaTalk and XL Regular). If the electronic music scene was the NBA, this record would be getting some of the top draft picks.
SNGWAX 01 starts with one of our current favorite producers, Joint4Nine. The Colombian, co-founder of Nómada Records, showcases a funky number with a distinct 90s trip-hop feel, featuring lashings of vocal samples and quirky synths. Soul Bridge (a project from JR from Dallas and Steve Faets) follows, rotating on deep soulful house vibes and a dialogue between bass and keys that goes on and on.
On the flip we find Last Nubian with a striped back deep house beauty featuring a tantalizing intro that entices you to keep listening. Perfect after-hours grooves. Next up the mad Donnie Moustaki with the mad “Doobie Moustaffi”, delivering his trademark fuzzy textures in a syncopated track that sets the scene for a synth laden voyage through funkier perspectives on house music. SofaTalk & XL Regular step up in the end with their remix of ”Doobie Moustaffi”. They’ve been collaborating for some time and, again, they don’t fail in providing a fast paced, bruk-infused version of the original.
SNGWAX 01 cements even further the growing reputation of Sengiley Recordings. Available for purchase, this is a perfect vinyl premiere.
