allysha joy: the making of silk

Francisco Espregueira

Allysha Joy comes forward with another demonstrations of her production, vocal and lyricism prowess. Following up on Acadie : Raw (2018), Torn : Tonic (2022), plus a number of high-end collabs and all the 30/70 Collective work, it is fair to say that Allysha Joy might be one of the most influential voices in the contemporary neo-soul, future jazz, R&B scene.

Released by First Word Records, the label that has been backing the Australian singer releases for a while, The Making Of Silk is fully produced by her, further showcasing an immense talent and, thematically, a new understanding of the meaning of love. With rich string arrangements, layered vocal harmonies, and her signature poetic style, Joy delivers a powerful and moving album that will come out fully next friday. As per usual she is joined by an incredible cast of musicians (certainly some of the most talented out there). Available on vinyl, courtesy of First Word Records.

It’s about accepting our aloneness, the impermanence of all things and still forever wanting to prove it wrong, to say that I understand that all things change, all things end, hurt exists, but I will love regardless.
