cody currie: moves ep
Francisco Espregueira
We talked about Cody Currie a few weeks ago, when he released his joint project with Felipe Gordon through Shall Not Fade. He’s been one of our favorite producers since he started appearing in the most recognizable youtube channels dedicated to electronic music and, especially since 2019, when via Toy Tonics he released two bombastic EP’s with Joel Holmes: New Chapter & Metropolis. Now he’s back to the Berlin-based Toy Tonics to deliver another golden EP entitled Moves, showcasing his very own fusion of house music, broken beat and jazz. This is the first of a couple of EP’s he will be releasing in his musical journey with the German label crew.
Cody is a special talent, being one of the key names to follow among the new generation of producers that connect jazz with more futuristic elements. Cementing even further his name, Moves delves into an atmospheric garage-y broken beat territory as an ode to his London roots. Rich chords, catchy hooks and hard hitting rhythms pair up with unbearable levels of groove. Composed by four moody broken beat tracks (+ a house version of the title-song), Moves is packed with club-craving anthems. Available in vinyl, you won’t regret having this in your collection.
