felipe gordon / krewcial: the ride ep
Francisco Espregueira
Colombian master Felipe Gordon, a regular contributor to the Shall Not Fade label, joins forces with Belgian virtuoso Krewcial for a collaborative EP that takes listeners on an exhilarating sonic journey. Aptly titled The Ride EP, this release invites us for a deep dive into their shared sonic world. Composed by four tracks Gordon & Krewcial pay homage to their shared passion for cycling while exploring a range of textures and atmospheres.
The Ride opens up with "1972" setting the tone with its intricate percussion and a driving bassline that simulates the experience of ascending a challenging hill. "Dying” introduces rousing choir vocals that infuse a gospel-inspired energy into the firmly rooted funk-driven bassline. On the B-side, "Answer" takes the listener on a nostalgic ride, meandering between clean kick drums and snappy snares, while maintaining a captivating melody. The flip also offers a remix by Session Victim, who delivers a beautifully ethereal reinterpretation of the original, creating a floating ambiance. This multifaceted release brings some of the best grooves in Gordon & Krewcial’s sleeves, solidifying the artists' positions as frontrunners in the realm of deep house music.
