flofilz: close distance
Francisco Espregueira
FloFilz is one of the most recognized and celebrated artists in the independent music scene. Venerated by people from different quadrants in music, his past work composed by the albums Metronom (2014), Speakthru (2015), Cenário (2016) and Transit (2019) is one of the most important pieces of our decade in music. Close Distance is Flo’s new album, having dropped last friday via Melting Pot Music. Adding to an excellent catalog, the project is a huge milestone reflecting worldwide growth with guest appearances from the likes of Alfa Mist, Blue Lab Beats, Jerome Thomas, Summers Sons & C. Tappin and others.
Close Distance has been in the works for the past two years, with FloFlz producing the 16 tracks that comprise the album in different locations, despite all the lockdown hindrances along the way. Artistically, the album cements Flo’s transition from lo-fi productions to hi-fi mixtures of jazz music, hip hop or alt r&b, providing a zen-like clarity, tranquility feeling throughout the project. Like the best jazz records do, Close Distance will survive time and will set the tone for FloFilz work in the second decade of this century. Available on vinyl, courtesy of Melting Pot Music.
