javonntte: virtual dreams ep
Francisco Espregueira
Javonntte carries an aura behind his music that when we see his name on any music we are swift to go for it, click for it, vibe to it. He is about to release a new EP via The Jazz Diaries entitled Virtual Dreams - a five track groover, filled with hazy, funk-drenched, party-moving textures. An instrumentalist, producer, vocalist, artist in the full sense of the word, Javonntte hails from Detroit with another record to add to his magnificent discography.
Supplying body moving frequencies since the late nineties, Brian ‘Javonntte’ Garrett began playing piano at age 15 and honed his craft on tour with Aretha Franklin. A collaborator of Amp Fiddler and Luke Solomon, he has previously released on labels such as Eglo Records, Lumberjacks In Hell, Traxx Underground, Defected and Waella’s Choice. Virtual Dreams showcases his vibes, starting with the crunchy midi fanfare of the record’s opener “Reggietune” to the blissed-out sweeping synths of “Outerbound”. The EP packs a punch, keeping it’s rock solid, groove-laden sensibilities throughout. Dropping next friday, Virtual Dreams EP is going to be available on vinyl and digital formats. Check out The Jazz Diaries high-karat releases too.
