tamil rogeon: wave theory
Francisco Espregueira
Tamil Rogeon, the Melbourne based multifaceted jazz, classical and electronic violin & viola player, presents the an beautiful new work, that just dropped last friday. Wave Theory is edited by Impressive Collective and BBE Music and follows the success Son Of Nyx (Soul Bank Music, 2021) - with Rogeon continuing to pull in elements, instincts and grooves from jazz, classical, and electronic music and drawing elements from the jazz fusion movements of the 70s and 80s.
Across six tracks, Rogeon is joined by usual collaborators such as Rita Satch and Daniel Mougerman, along with new additions like Lance Ferguson and the celebrated trumpeter Audrey Powne. Sonically, the album showcases a diverse range of influences, from the psychedelic and funky "Ascend It!" to the Mahavishnu Orchestra-inspired "Doom Date." And everything sounds exceptional. Which is not surprise if you knew Tamil Rogeon’s previous works. Wave Theory is available on vinyl.
