Coming up with a warm and late summer eve crispy feeling to it, CURRENT is The Beautiful Now’s follow up of 2018 MOES. Part of a bigger body of work created in the last couple of years, CURRENT it’s also an introduction to what will come out in the near future from the Swiss hip hop/r&b act. All four tracks composing this new EP are a natural development of the blueprint that laid out ever-so-precisely on MOES, showcasing analogue tendencies in a project that was mostly recorded live, including vocal work from Dizzy Senze, J.Hoard, Yamin Semali, Spooks McGhie, BIGYUKI and Kay.
The arrangements remain detailed, polyrhythmically like a clock-work – steady and relentless. Hints of tropical elements are still legible, yet more subtle this time around, indicating that The Beautiful Now crew has distilled all of their musical obsessions into a cohesive signature sound. The newly introduced lines are socially conscious, informative, at times mildly militant, and full of love. CURRENT is food for the soul, now available via Boyoom Connective.
“We’re always looking for pronounced vibes. It was also natural that we expanded our sound by weaving in more of our influences, many of them beyond music. I’m thinking of aspects of life that enriched our personal development such as raising kids, keeping the focus on achieving your dreams and staying true to yourself.
